This is a soap opera and I love to hate a soapy drama. The melodrama distracts me from my own drama. The scenes are drawn out and redundant enough to binge in a way that I could leave the room and still know what’s going on.
What I enjoyed most is the nostalgia of soaps from the 90's. If this was intentional, bravo for memorializing an ancient acting method but I wonder if the show is satire half the time.
The biggest goof is Season 1, Episode 18 when it’s randomly summertime at Esperanza’s house. I would like to ask Tyler Perry about that one. I would also like to know why they be sweating bullets in some scenes lol.
I’m only on season one and I really wish Eddie would be humbled already. But I guess the point is the buildup. I dislike watching this show but I’m committed because the storytelling is engaging. There is worth in watching when the characters finally develop.
