Marc mentioned Plessy Vs Ferguson as an example of a rejection of stare decisis. This was a bad decision which had bad real world consequences, segregation, which could be overcome by its reversal. Regardless of your opinion on abortion, overturning Roe will only result in a few poor women who can't afford to go out of state to have their unwanted babies. Is it really worth overruling a stare decisis for such a small benefit?
