I am an amateur archaeologist. Since I started watching Time Team UK last year my knowledge has catapulted. I learned about innovative techniques, all the while watching the history of my ancestral home come to life on land and through the colorful visualizations of Victor Ambrus. What they have uncovered has changed Britain's knowledge of their civilization and given the citizens so much home pride (sometimes literally, like when they identify the walls of an abbey inside that wonky looking wall in someone's house). It is so intriguing to watch these videos to actually see how to read the topography or the trenches for all those subtle changes At first, they'd point to a spot in the trench and say, "We 'ave a waal 'ere." I'd be rubbing my eyes trying to figure out where, because dirt just looked like dirt. I knew I had graduated when I finally could see the differences. As the present social climate becomes ever more rude and crude, it is so comforting to watch the Time Team and local villagers treat each other courteously and then meet at the pub for a bit of a wind-down and a re-cap. Makes me feel like I'm part of the crew... Oh, and my cat enjoys the music.
