Wanted to love this movie, since I've been a Springsteen fan for a long time, especially from the era when this movie takes place. Movie starts off decent through the scenes when the first couple great tracks play. Then soon afterwards becomes a predictable mess with bad drama that also just had to throw in some needless race-baiting to pander to the political base that loves that right now during election cycles. I guess we should just be thankful they didn't replace Bruce with a female version. The movie truly doesn't know if it wants to be a drama or musical, which is a big part of why it's so cringeworthy by the 2nd half. If it was an actual musical and the audience knew that going in, it would be much more forgiving on the totally unrealistic cheesy public singing scenes. Definitely save your money going to the movies for this one, and just wait a couple months for on demand or blu ray. You'll be glad you did, and then realize anyone raving about it in some reviews here are all clearly high.
