Honestly, this is one of the worst movies I have seen. It was very slow and boring. There is not direct plot or character development throughout the movie. I will admit the scenery is very pretty but the story is not. It is suppose to be a romance but it is just full of perverted motives and pedophilia. Nothing grew through their apparent “love” story. They basically only cared to get sex out of each other. The family was rarely involved In Elio’s life and it all was just very odd and confusing. Elio is also a very strange annoying character that is immature and does not know how to act while Oliver is very different although he starts to get weird towards the end and attaches on to Elio’s strange behavior. Oliver is also very arrogant and he randomly starts to ignore Elio without purpose then all of a sudden they have sex? Elio was very lost and he was not prepared to be in a relationship. Don’t get me started on that disgusting peach scene something is wrong in Oliver’s and Elios head. They never build a friendship or had deep connections. The characters do not match at all. I do not know where all this attention is coming from but this is seriously one of the worst stories. You can feel no emotion from it and it is not something you can even relate to. This is very hard to watch. There was no special connection there was no climax and nothing that brought them together. Half the time we didn’t even know what Elio’s intention were other than getting his dick hard. The girl he was with just didn’t even contribute to the story he was never intact with his emotions which never gave us reason to feel anything for him. Not to mention Elio is 17 while Oliver is 24. This is not a great love story it is straight trash.
