My husband and I watched it all. Such an underwhelming conclusion, leaving us feeling short changed for investing our time. If we hadn’t been watching with sub titles we couldn’t have deciphered half the dialogue. The disparity in height between the young and older main character was the first huge misstep for me as well as being left with the feeling that the story was half told and incomplete. The only reason we continued to watch is because as a very young man my husband worked with a survivor of a Japanese POW camp - he has never forgotten his stories and the terrible impact it had had on that man’s life. It felt like a disservice to him not to watch all episodes, even though we were anticipating the inevitable disappointment.
