Beyoncé’s album, Cowboy Carter, transcends the expectations of an album. It reflects the multiverse of American society all while shaping culture today and challenging the notions of art and genre. Her mastery of allegory weaves in gospel, protest, and life experiences that she can intimately speak to as a wife, mother, and superstar with roots in the most diverse city in Texas. The album’s instrumentals and musical devices ushers a historical revival and sets the bar (high sky!) for what we can expect from poets/artists/musicians of her caliber. With that said, she delivers a boppin’ good time and lyrics to process complicated, mature feelings.
