I recently had the opportunity to complete a Diamond DA40NG type rating at Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA) for my personal leisure flying requirements after working for various international airlines for more than 25 years. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with the high standards of training at AATA.
One aspect that stood out to me was the great facilities and aircraft used for training.
The aircraft avionics system resembled modern jetliners, providing me with an early exposure to Electronic Flight Management Systems (EFIS). This “glass cockpit” exposure gives cadets studying at AATA a greater advantage compared to those flying conventional old aircraft.
I would also like to commend Miss Krystal, the admin or sales staff at AATA, for her efficiency and friendliness. She responded swiftly to all my inquiries and facilitated a very smooth training program.
The instructors at AATA were highly knowledgeable and their training methods made it easy for me to understand all the exercises. It was clear that their rich training experience reflected in their teaching. I had the privilege of flying with Captain Romain Chomel and Captain Syed Faudzi, who were exceptional instructors.
One interesting aspect of AATA is their B737 mock-up simulator. This gives cadets a better understanding of the airline environment, which is definitely a valuable experience not offered by many other flight schools.
Overall, I highly commend Asia Aeronautical Training Academy (AATA) for their high standards of training, great facilities, and excellent instructors. I believe they are doing a great job in elevating the aviation training industry, and I hope they continue to keep up the good work.
