If you truly want to know a realistic review of the show, you should read this review.
To be candid, I felt that the show was a complete let down.It was a sloppy, unoriginal, hot mess that just made me mad. You don't even have to watch this, because all of its "big reveals" are things we already knew. I won't "spoil" anything, but it was rough to even watch.
There were aspects of the show that were actually interesting and I enjoyed. For example, the new "who's gonna be the next Captain'"dynamic between John Walker, Sam, and Bucky. I especially enjoyed Walker's complex character structure and his fall from grace. Also, Bucky's redemption story was beautifully executed and was one of the best parts of the show. I felt that sam was given so much in this miniseries and now see him as a serious player in the upcoming films, instead of a silly side character.
What I completely hated about the show was the ridiculously wimpy antagonist, the flag crushers (dumbest name on earth). I've always said that the best villains are the one's who truly believe they are heroes (like Darth Vader and Thanos) but Karli's reasonings for killing people and starting this entire mess was completely unjustified and in no way relatable. I also found it annoying that all of our heroes kept trying to save her like she was some good guy, SHE KILLED SO MANY PEOPLE. The idea of their characters were cool, but they were so lazily written that I had to fight the urge from fast forwarding.
The show should have never fully focused on the flag crushers as the main Antagonist, but instead should had focused more on John Walker becoming a villain and abusing his new given powers and Sam&Bucky uncovering more hydra conspiracies, especially with Zemo.
I also hated how Zemo was portrayed throughout the show and felt that the MCU could have done so much more with his character.
Overall, the show was a total let down and bored me to death and could have been just as good as civil war.
Also I might be the only one who thinks this, but Captain America and his shield doesn't represent The American government and all of its terrible actions to people throughout its history. Instead the shield symbolizes Freedom and Justice and who we as Americans should aim to be like. It has nothing to do with race, but the morality of society and who are as individuals. The shield represents compassion and unity not systematic racism and prejudice. Thats what I liked about Sam's character, he understood what the shield truly meant, not what the flag crushers and others perceived it to be.This isn't a political piece about the American flag. I'm simply discussing what cap's shield means, nothing else.
