Good actors, good story and production team are very important for an overall good film , and a star as the main lead can give the movie the required business at the box office. The former is true for this film, but the second point has proved the opposite in this case. Akshay Kumar and his coactors have all done a great job but his overexposure to the audience has worked against him and resulted in the film not getting good numbers. He has been doing back to back movies like 9 to 5 jobs, with no change in his on screen appearance, and then does similar promotional activities, which has given the audience a sense of fatigue of watching him in the same mode all year round. Kumar thinks it's his professionalism to complete a movie fast and move on to the next project, but the movie goers want to see something new everytime and if an actor puts in an effort for any role related to his acting or looks, the viewers feel that he has worked hard for something good which must be worth watching. If they think that the actor himself has not thought the project to be worth his time and effort then they also need not spend time and money on the movie. This is what has caused this movies bad collections. Sarfira is a good film, a great inspirational story inspired by true events about an underdog fighting against all odds and against the giants of the business to achieve his goal. Though it is a remake of Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya, the director of both movies is the same and so the treatment of the story, so the viewers can watch either depending upon their preference. Though Soorarai Pottru is the original and better appreciated between the two. The supporting cast does a good job and Akshay himself has given an earnest performance which proves again that given a good movie choice, he can carry it on his own. He only needs to limit his projects and make the viewers hungry and waiting for more, instead of being so much in their face all year round, that a good movie like Sarfira gets lost the flood of his multiple releases and ends up being a failure. Overall, I liked Sarfira and i recommend it as it is feel good and inspirational film to watch with your family.

This film suffers because of a lot of reasons. The script, screenplay and direction all are weak. The gags are unfunny and forced. The emotional scenes do not evoke the desired feeling. Vicky Kaushal and Tripti Dimri are wasted in their roles and the parts of the movie involving the family members do not add anything to the story. Ammy Virk, Vicky and Tripti do their part but are let down by the script, and for those who are comparing Tripti's performance to her earlier movies should pause to think about the quality of her earlier movies and what her role required her to do in them. Had the role been stronger, she could have been judged whether she justified it or not. Overall I think the song Tauba Tauba and its craze over reels did most for getting the audience to the theatres and by the time the movie released, there was an overdose of this song too. Miss this movie and watch something else over OTT

I knew about the story of Shaheed Sardar Udham Singh and the premise of the movie so had a basic idea of what would be shown. But what I saw really blew my mind and broke my heart. The makers very intelligently chose to show Udham Singhs struggles and action in England in the first half which seemed slow and left me thinking about what will be shown next when more than half of the film is left. But what followed was the flashback to the day of the massacre which evoke such dread and depression in my mind, which was what the movie intended to do. The scenes were so disturbing to watch, you cannot imagine what it must have been like in real life when it actually happened. And then after the massacre was the equally painful part about searching for the living among the hundreds of dead bodies. And then to realise that this was not fiction. Showing this in the second half and then immediately showing Udham Singh getting martyrdom by hanging as the movie ends, you get to carry home this mixed feeling of heaviness in your heart because of the tragedy of the massacre, hatred for the colonial masters for being unapologetic for their actions and also pride and satisfaction that Udham Singh finally got to extract the revenge he set out to take for that night 21 years ago. Maybe Udham Singh must also be feeling these same feelings during his final moments. Hats off to Shoojit Sircar and his team and to Vicky Kaushal for giving us this masterpiece.

Watched this movie on OTT today with low expectations after reading negative reviews and about the Rajamouli curse that any movie of an actor after working with Rajamouli does not do well. I was pleasantly surprised and loved this movie. The trailer did not do justice to the film. The story is unique and the scenes are well shot, though the ocean sequences could have better vfx. The actors suit the parts they play, including Saif Ali Khan who looks menacing as the baddie. NTR jr is terrific as usual. I am looking forward to the sequel. I felt this was better than RRR and the only thing which Devara lags behind than RRR is the scale and hype around the film. I will recommend Devara over RRR if I were to make a choice.

I had to write this review after watching this movie. It could have been a movie starring anyone, a story about anybody set in any time period or place. It was neither action, nor horror. It was just a boring movie trying to be a horror or a psychological thriller. It almost felt like a home made fan video. There was no need to make this a hellboy film because he had nothing to do in it. I need to watch the Guillermo del Torro version again to remind me of Hellboys charm, wit and strength.

The movie borrows its main plot from Liam Neeson's Non Stop. The action is good but predictable. One thing which has not changed in such movies is everyone talking and throwing in one liners in the middle of a fight sequence. Spoiler: i may have missed the point so if someone can explain this to me-towards the end of the movie why did they turn the plane towards the very place which they wanted to save

This is, my opinion, really the best Godzilla movie till date. Set in the WWII period, it shows the initial interaction of the Kaiju with the humans and their attempts to overcome it using the limited resources and technology available to them considering the time period as well as restrictions due to the after effects of Japan's surrender after the war. The action, emotions, story and VFX were all engrossing. For a change, this movie focused on the lives, joys and sorrows of the people affected by Godzilla instead of keeping the camera on the titan wreaking havoc, unlike the recent outings from Hollywood studios which rely only on VFX generated fake looking sequences to dominate the screen time, while a handful of the main cast are just onlookers using inexplicable technology to predictably escape the beast. There is no actual connect with the actors in Hollywood's Godzilla movies, while in this film, you really feel for the cast members and root for them to win. Looking forward to the sequel of this movie, hope it comes out soon.

Ridley Scott returns with another period movie with Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role. While this film is on par with Scott's earlier movies in terms of scale, sets, costumes and cast, but it lacks an engaging story. The movies moves on uninterestingly through diffrent stages of Napoleans life but does not create any thrill or drama to keep the audience hooked to the screen. The time leaps also dont help and you have to read the dates on the screen to try to keep up with the story. Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby have done justice to their roles but their characters and relationship have not been portrayed properly, even though it was one of the main things driving Napolean. All in all, it was nowhere near Scott's earlier period dramas like Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven or even the recent The Last Duel. Napolean was a tedious watch and more like watching a documentary than a movie. Hope to see another Ridley Scott epic masterpieces soon.

The makers wanted to make a Poirot- like movie but lost the plot somewhere along the way. It is filled with too many eccentric characters but lacks a proper script and story. Ideally in a murder mystery, the final reveal should be a shock to the viewers. Here, the person who acts the most innocent all through the movie , predictably is the culprit. There is a very hurried explanation as to how the investigating police officer finds the clues to nail the killer, which should have been the highlight of the movie. Overall, the movie with 2+ hours of runtime is not worth watching.
