Liked it overall, but I would have preferred a more linear treatment of Charlie Parker’s life—the flashbacks make the movie harder to follow than it should be. Also, why is there a fictional character (Buster Franklin) in a biopic? Buster Franklin never existed, and what’s more, I’m a musician, and as far as I can tell, Franklin’s statement that he remembers when Charlie Parker “couldn’t play ‘Come To Jesus’ in whole notes” makes no sense. I’m nitpicking a bit, but as I said, I do like the movie overall.
