LaVonda Williams

As a fan of the book and the first movie, I wanted so badly to love this. Unfortunately I did not. The acting was incredible but there was absolutely zero character development. I just did not care about any of them. Maybe I should have paid closer attention to the fact that this was a musical, but I went in thinking it was going to be a reimagined version of the original. I saw the play on Broadway and this was that on screen. Get ready for more song and dance numbers than actual substance. I still hope that my opinion is in the minority and that it does well at the box office.
