Warning-some spoilers I am giving this four stars for the spectacle alone. I saw this movie on a small screen which doesnt work for it. So, I will give the film another shot on Imax. The reviewers have said it is this generation's seminal SiFi movie. Really? Was it bad? No! But the hype has hurt the movie. As a fan of the original book. They did an excellent job, as the book is highly complex. I do not remember the book expounding on the liberal Freeman vs the fundamentalist Freeman. So that is a new twist (in my mind). All of the freemen were pretty hardcore fundamentalists. Some reviewers mention the need for more chemistry between Zendaya and Chalamet. I can see their point. One last point, I do not remember the book expounding on why Paul embarked on his Jihad. They explain that in the movie's end. Please do yourself a favor and watch it on IMAX.

If the Squid Games is the high water mark, in my opinion, All of Us Are Dead", is only a hair behind it. It has a likable cast, and the antagonists are played perfectly with the correct amount of meanness. The high school students are faced with a horrific event in their high school. Except for the parents of some of the kids, adults have pretty much shirked their responsibility. It pulls no punches in the brutality of bullying in high school. These kids have to pull together and manage how to get out of their desperate straights on their own. One father does come through in the end. The show has no problems killing off the main characters to avoid cliches. What is especially noteworthy is the genesis of the virus.
