I've been a Pokémon fan since 2015/16 - Pokémon Omega Ruby being my first experience - and let me tell you this, I've played nearly every Pokémon game, and while the oldies are top tier, this game is an entirely different experience! There are so many new mechanics implemented into the game that just make things so much more fun! The soundtrack is phenomenal (like every Pokémon soundtrack), and the story is insanely intriguing! It is very fun to see characters that make you go "Hey! You look like ____" and low and behold, that character looks so familiar because it's actually an ancestor of a previously-known character! There's so many nods to previous regions, too, that I think is very nice, like Game Freak hasn't forgotten a certain region! Please! Please get this game! It is well worth the money!
