I recently watch the holiday episode with my grandson. It was nice to see children explaining their favorite holiday. I wish I could say I was surprised that Kwanzaa was mentioned but in American television fashion a black holiday was not mentioned or celebrated. I grew up on Sesame Street and it would be nice in 2023 that there is more black representation . Even in the opening there was only one little black girl. I appreciate that various nationalities were celebrated and represented. As I continued to watch the scenes with children only one black child per scene. I guess I should be grateful that there is any representation at all. I am disappointed in Sesame Street as they have been doing this long enough to be more inclusive of black children and families.
