You know, for a popcorn action movie this ended up being really well done. The filming and editing is probably some of the best. The stuntmen and stunt cameramen went full tilt. Pickling Bangladesh was a interesting choice-a total 180 from a Bond film which has to have it's action sequences in a world-class location. The locations are incredibly raw and filthy. Hemsworth is not a great actor but carries himself well

This movie is sort of pitched like a RomCom or sometimes a romantic drama but honestly it's some off little hybrid. It lacks all the absurd contrivances and slapstick humor of RomComs-the most egregious of those being in "Serendipity" or "My Best Friend's Wedding" et al. It is also not terribly dramatic as well. The film is just a pleasant, fly-on-the-wall observation of a young couple who meet on a plane by happenstance. The narrator who also appears in various roles as some sort of instigator at specific decision points of the story is just one of "us." The result will be preordained, it's low stress, the circumstances are believable and the whole deal goes down easy like a latté on a Sunday morning, Key to the success of the movie are the 2 actors. Like the movie, their characters and physical attributes are not over the top are drop dead gorgeous. Dialog is normal, they are normal and everything is norma. We are just watching 2 cute young people getting to know each other and being excellent problem solvers. The problem? Trying to deduce where each other is in London at their respective family events. No big deal, no drama and you calmly smile until the finale. Special kudos to art director who highlights London with splashes of color and some rich interiors in an Umbrellas of Cherbourg sort of way. Again, everything thing is pleasant and non-obnoxious. Sometimes nice is...nice to watch.

Although a popular entry into the RomCom genre, I found the ending to be marginally cringey and a bit cruel. Both main characters seem unsure of themselves and lost. What happens at the last wedding is really all that funny or romantic, but comes off mean spirted. This should be placed into sci-fi it's so absurd. A bunch of over-educated Brits with seemingly no careers at lavish weddings for 2 hours straight. Hugh Grant's demeanor always a crowdpleaser though

It may be Tomorrow's War but it's 100% yesterday's tired plot lines borrowed from: -Aliens -Starship Troopers -Independence Day -Interstellar -Jurassic Park and a slew of other sci-fi adventures from the past. Not sure if they were talking about wormholes or plotholes! If these are aliens, how the heck did they arrive. These creatures are savage and have minimal intelligence never mind somehow invent spacetravel. Did somebody drop them off on Earth like a stray animal? Invasive species kicked out of a flying saucer? Of course the worst of sci-fi cliches is time travel. You have to hand it to Star Wars, they never fell back on time travel to make a plot. Even Star Trek overused this storyline test about 10 too many times. Time travel technology sort of miraculously appears 30 years in the future and the best use of it is to come back to 2021? And if the survival rate of going into the future and fighting these aliens is 30%, maybe the people who invented time travel could come up with a better strategy and tactics to kill aliens besides unloading an entire box of ammo on these things? Chris Pratt admirably tries to ground the silliness. The assault scenes are probably the best-the creature not so much. Looks like a bad sketch of a Demigorgan from Stranger Things-oh and it's shoots things out of it tenticles. Exceptionally derivative, stunningly mediocre.

Part of making a time travel movie is that, eventually, the viewer is "in on the gag" and can follow the back and forth. Saving the space time continuity etc. etc. This movie was incredibly confusing, didn't have a plot homebase and pretty much relied on 2 miscast actors to hold this together as a romantic vehicle. " Speed" is in a galaxy far far away and Sandra Bullock and Keanu should have remained in their trajectories-apart. Christopher Plummer thankfully dies midstream. The worst of this contrived mess is the time travel mechanism. The Lion, the Witch and the Mailbox? Rubbish.
