I like the premise of this film. The movie has a gritty edge to it which adds to the horror element. With that said, I did not find this to be worth my time. Please note that I said My time. If a person is a fan of what call torture porn then here you go. This should be right up your alley. If a person likes Terrifier or the Saw movies then you should really enjoy this. I love sci-fi, Horrer, thriller movies but maybe I'm not a card carrying member with my dislike of this portiion of the genre but hey, we all like what we like. I'm more 8nto Sleepaway camp slasher stuff. This is a bit to real for me. But if your into creativr and horrendous ways to tear human beings into intestine dumping fish hook in the eyeball piles of goo. Who am I to say. Funny how people lose their mind if a movie like lolita or the babysitters but this is ok.

Chapter 1 is a great horror film. Chapter 2 is a good horror film. Chapter 2 can at times be overblown and tries to shove the heart aspect down your throat instead of organically letting the audience form a bond with the characters like in the first that made me genuinely care. The effects are great though and the cast do a great job making it a solid companion to the 1st. Interesting to me is the original miniseries rates a 6.8 on imdb which includes the entire story in one overall movie. The recent adaptations with the massive hollywood budget scored a 7.3 for part 1 and a 6.4 for part 2 giving it an overall average for the both at 6.9. Which begs the question. Was it really all worth it for a rate increase of 1/10th of a percent over the original.? Tim Curry is tough to beat, even with more bells and whistles.
