The Adventures of Tintin is one of my favorite books series owning all 7 Volumes. I saw this movie when I was little not knowing it was a book series. When I read the books I loved them more than the movie. When I re-watched the movie I loved the references but it felt a little odd. I then realized that the movie left out key elements of the movie and changed things around that made the movie way different than the book. First, the villains in the book are brothers (spotted in the beginning of the movie as drawings of the Herge cameo) where the ones after the Unicorn models and they sent Barnaby Dawes. While in the movie it was Sakharine who was a supporting character in the book. Second, Barnaby was killed by men in a blue car which is accurate to the book, except when he dies in the movie he refers to people who "I didn't know would kill anybody over it." This is where I realized the story didn't make sense. In the book the Byrd Brothers shoot him, but in the movie we don't know because Barnaby never said who. If the story included the Byrd Brothers it would make sense. Third, Sakharine is the descendant of Red Rackham but in the book no one is related to him. Fourth, Ben Salad is a villain in Crab with the Golden Claw but in the movie he's just an owner of the Unicorn. So that's why I don't like the movie. But everything else is great from names, action, etc. This will always be my favorite movie but for the reasons above I wish it was better.
