Story of a woman who finally decides to pursue her passion after investing 10 years in marriage. It is not about a failed relationship, but narrates how an individual can pursue her passion in spite of all hurdles. Her interest in "history" never fades. The old professor Collins is an example to all, he passionately studies history even at old age. Simple story and most of the time I felt like Mrs Murthy reading aloud the chapters of the book.

Interesting one and I was really surprised the way in which writer has brought almost all characters from the epic into the book. I remember listening to Ramayana tales from my grandpa, however never in my wildest imagination did I think that all these characters can be molded differently. My imagery of Sita was of a beautiful but strong woman who accompanied her husband in all his actions. Amish has created a character that exudes beauty, bravery and statesmanship. She is equally competent as Rama and wants to build an empire that has lost its glory. Obviously a good read and it takes readers to the actual imaginary place where he has set his characters. My only disagreement is with respect to the portrayal of Urmila. I believe she had to be a strong woman as her decision to stay back had helped Lakshman to perform his duties towards his brother and country. However the author has portrayed her as a petite lady who cannot endure the hardships of jungle life.
