The fact that the bread comes out of a drawer sets the scene. Having been to cellar bar a lot over the years but not in the last couple we were disappointed. Our table was too small for the group such that our food wouldn’t fit, the main I had (gnocchi) had no taste and the other mains were average. Waiter didn’t write down our order, all from memory, and missed items. Failed to tell us we didn’t need to order as much bread as we did, which usually you get told. Then when we realised it was bread from the drawer at the front of the dining area it didn’t sit that well!
No offer of pepper or Parmesan for our dishes. Then the wine we ordered was suddenly $45 more on the receipt. We paid and followed up politely later just to let them know to update their paper menu and were met with copies of menus different to what we were provided on the night. Not trying to achieve any money back, so was surprised they clearly failed to look into it. As such would just suggest you confirm the price of the wine when ordering as our menu was definitely out of date. We went to another Italian the following night and the food was much better for half the price.
A shame as we always used to love this place!
