I recently watched an episode in which the Vets helped an alligator rescuer with a sick animal. Doc Verd determined the alligator had a respiratory infection and mentioned he was going to inject the 'gator with a floxacin. Floxacin are fluoroquinolone drugs and affect animals the same way they do humans Most doctors have stopped using these drugs for the severe side effects unless nothing else works. They are dangerous drugs to distribute before other drugs are tried. I urge the vets to learn more about the fluoroquinolone family of drugs and refrain from infiicting them on our pets or rescues.
