It may have biased me given the significance of The Tragically Hip and Gord Downie to Canada 🇨🇦 and to me. The final cross country tour after the terminal brain tumor diagnosis was a loving goodbye from Canada's band. I was so lucky to see the London show and will remember that forever. The final show in their hometown of Kingston was the most beautiful loving goodbye to Canada's band from the vast majority of the country. Broadcast across the nation with superstar and highschool friends alike mesmerized by the band in person and the rest of us watching from home, outdoor watch parties, arenas filled to capacity with it on the big screen. Our Prime Minister who is a big fan was there. All that to say I didn't know what to expect. Word play, upbeat, love for his bandmates in the Hip. Reminders of who & what we are and should be. Hope. Hope for us. Hope for the next generation. Astoundingly hope from a man with an incurable brain tumor. With his brain causing him grief especially when it came to memory of names. So instead of embarrassing someone who had met him before by asking them who they were, he'd introduce himself! "Introduce Yerself" is a great idea, a lovely idea for a tattoo and a beautiful way to remember Gord Downie as a solo artist.
