The vocabulary and sentence structuring felt a tad stiff, and the amount of spice peppered in there surprised me. Still though, this is the kind of novel that makes you think "I want what they have" and also touches on sensitive topics with care ( well maybe not the racism part but then again it is real so- ). Speaks to kids who feel like they're stuck in the in-between, and lets them know that there's still hope out there. Need a sequel.

Amazing novel that shows the hypocrisy behind those who are labeled as "good" and "evil" simply because of origin and status. Packed with well-written and very in-depth characters, though some that I'd like to see in the spotlight are very often sidelined. It also takes a very philosophical perspective on what is considered good and evil and makes you really think what it means to be either. Loved Rafal. 8/10.

I see Piper and the other children as a metaphor for the youth who are bound to peer pressure and societal norms and expectations, having an entire institution established just to make these kids "normal" when they should be embracing their God-given gifts and using them for the betterment of the world. The story and book itself is simple and clad with imagery and prose. Criminally underrated book.

A lyrical work of art that has everything from prose to world-building, simple yet compelling, and a narrative that sings of love as the strongest human force, transcending all boundaries in space and time.
