The movie is a minimalist masterpiece. The main character is repsentative of Palestinian character, and culture, both figuratively as a people, and literally as individuals. The character development and production design offer a window through time to how Palestinian life was like before the catastrophe. It portrays the horrors of the experience without showing any of it. All it shows is a little girl hiding a pantry, witnessing horrors through the cracks of a door, which in turn is covered by a stone wall, that her father built to protect her. We, in turn see it all through her eyes. An amazing female lead character, to represent the value of Palestinian women in Palestinian society.
