I don't take ID for a very cohesive band for telling their story through the track-by-track listing of their album although they claim exactly that every time. I could see something like that with Mercury but Loom is too short and dynamic for that.
I think Dan's vocals had ups and downs throughout the project.
The instrumentals were more jazzy and orchestral than what we typically associate them with which is fine as long as what we get is okay. But I think we all expected more in that area.
I can at least give them props for pushing the envelope for trying something new and fresh.
A couple of tracks were really good. Some of the others were either enjoyable or forgettable. I guess with only 9 tracks you don't get many in-betweens.
