Poverty, depravity, decadence, sleazy underground sex dens, nightclubs, trans-gay bars, ordinary Berliners and ultimately the insidious rise of National Socialism are all brilliantly portrayed in this compelling German series set in Berlin during the latter years of the Weimar Republic. The scene featuring the song "Zu Asche Zu Staub" performed by Severija Janušauskaitė at the "Moka Efti" Nightclub had me transfixed from start to finish. This is an outstanding series full of unsavoury characters (and of course good guys) in the film noir crime genre category.
