A far superior - though not perfect - version of the Rocky IV story. The sillier aspects are removed (the robot is completely absent, thankfully), and there is more character focus. Some of the older films music cues are used with restored footage, as well, so it feels more a film and less a music video. Drago is given a bit more development as well, so it is made more clear that he’s just being used as a propaganda platform but he knows it, and ultimately decides he won’t be. There is somewhat less emphasis on his over the top strength as well. Rocky’s motivations are clearer, and more attention is given his relationship with Apollo. The film fits better with the previous releases and really feels more like a Rocky movie. In addition, it now fits a little better with Rocky Balboa and the Creed films. Overall it’s a far better version of the story and a drastic improvement.
