Fans who got to play the original version are so lucky. It's not hard to see why FF7 is highly regarded as the all-time greatest in the franchise! I havent played the original yet, though the plot, story, characters and core gameplay concepts are just so pure*, and everything just works, right down to the minigames.
I'm currently on chapter 4 and continue to find allure in everything about the gameplay areas (the residential area is so charming). To think that although the original was the game that revolutionized so many influential concepts in gaming, that the remake could bring all of these things back without feeling dated or bland is just mind-blowing to me. I truly wonder if this game could influence developers to once again revisit their roots, and perhaps result in changing gaming forever once again.
*I havent really warmed up to Cloud yet, but I'm certain that'll change.
