I have watched the Today show since Bryant Gumbel, Katie and Willard so the show is part of my daily life. That being said, I was disappointed this morning when Jenna referred to the nursing home that her grandma lived in as an “old folks home” where “all the food is mashed like jello and mashed potatoes”. This term is out-dated and offensive to those who work with and take care of our aging generation. “Nursing home”and “nursing facility” are more appropriate terms. Also, all the food is not served mashed... It’s bad enough that nursing homes are still stigmatized. We don’t need a professional in the media to continue the stigma. As always, I’ll continue to watch the show, only now with an eye roll when Jenna speaks.
