This is a romantic love story, has a very sad middle and happy ending. The characters, Irene Dunn and Charles Boyer are very good in their parts and fit together well. I am 74 yrs and had never seen this, but am a fan of Irene Dunn. This was remade in 1957, by Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant under title "An Affair to Remember". I had seen the remake and really love it, so I wanted to see this when I had the opportunity. I think both versions are good and they are actually almost identical, which is unusual, and shows how good the first version was. If you are a romantic like me you will surely love it. It is nice to see romantic movies without open sex and vulgar language. The female leads are both singers and though the script did not change, the songs that they sang were changed. It is not a musical. They sang 1 number in the middle, and with some children sang a second toward the end. So don't groan! Very entertaining and romantic. Hope you will treat yourself to this, it's worth watching.
