This piece "Shogun" is truly a master piece work of art. I have only touch the very tip of a small part of the Japanese culture. Example. In a Japanese garden the walking (stepping) stones are flat and wide so you naturally raise you gaze and see the beauty the garden designer place for you at eye level. If the beauty is low near the ground, the stepping stones gradually become smaller and more irregular, slightly unsettling you foot and causing you to lower you gaze. Having done Shotokan many years with a Japanese Master I have come to see some other subtleties there too. The Japanese are a very sophisticated people with a great deal of subtleties. This series has a lot to offer in that regard. I have seen it three times and still I find little things here and there that I missed. The European culture has very may of these qualities too. Just to be clear I am speaking of the elites with in each culture respectively. As a boy I could not get Shakespeare and as my mind matured I can clearly see why his gifts to us endure. Science, philosophy, medicine etc. have their place in society, but it is in the Arts where we see the wings of man's spirit in their fullest expression.
