The movie didn't do any justice to the book. The characters were never developed. There was no real depiction of the angst of the mother or the conflict between both parents. Most of the background of Kevin's bizarre childhood behavior, including the scene with Violetta and the eczema, were left out or glossed over. The background of the mother, her career and company, which were integral, was left out. Everything was so shallow compared to the depth of the book. Scenes were completely changed, including Kevin's capture and arrest, which could be overlooked if the rest of the story was told correctly. If I hadn't read the book I would have never understood the movie. The acting itself was good but they had so little material to work with that they seemed two dimensional. It was one of the worst movies I've seen.
