A wonderful and heartwarming story told from the perspective of an American Chinese, I was instantly drawn to the mundane yet emotional storyline because I was once at a very similar scenario like the character in the film. Even if you are not from an Asian background, I still believe that we can all relate to the feelings that were conveyed in the film, whether to tell your loved ones the truth or a white lie. Definitely one of the best film I've watched in 2019, and this movie completely changed my perspective on Awafina, she's truly a spectacular actress with unforgettable acting skills. It is way better than Crazy rich Asian, this film has a lot more depth, values and emotions that will linger on. A good movie doesn't need to be in the most dramatic, crazy and complex settings or mis-en-scene, it just needs to resonate with the viewers. Shame that there were only a handful of people in the cinema I was in.
