I wanted to like this movie, it had a good “vibe”, I’ll give it that. And don’t get me wrong, I am a fan of endings that are less than Disney-esque in their optimism, more-so than most I would say. But this movie really should have had a better ending. I felt like this movie had no plot and was trying to rely on character development alone, which it failed at miserably. Imogen Poots did a good job, she could have carried the movie if there had been some sort of plot-driven redemption along the way.

This movie was fantastic. Some people say the character development falls flat, but that’s only because the movie is designed to show the character development of a single character as he goes from being a brand new soldier, to seeing the darkest side of humanity in a short amount of time. The other characters have been in the war for 3+ years so to expect them to have a strong arc is less reasonable because in a sense they are already developed. By and large this movie is not your cookie cutter war movies in many ways, if you like movies that do things a little off the beaten path, you may enjoy Fury.
