Spoiler alert: The entire cat-and-mouse plot is given away in the trailers. We had loads of theories on how the plot would turn in the end. Any one of our 15 alternate endings were better than the actual ending. It goes pretty much exactly like the trailers already portray. No classic M. Night twist at the end to make you rethink the entire movie. Definitely his worst movie to date. It ended up being more of a film vehicle for M. Night's daughter to act out her fantasy of being a diva. Perhaps his gift to his daughter, but not to his audiences. Three big plot holes that bother me about Trap: 1) Why couldn't Cooper simply walk out of the concert? They had no way to identify him as The Butcher. 2) Why did all the men at the concert willingly allow the cops to violate their civil rights to be screened? They would need to have cause to interrogate these men beyond a simple concert screening. Someone (perhaps most?) would have objected. None did in the movie. Willing sheep. And taking Dads out of the stands who clearly are there with their kids, potentially leaving their kids alone with The Butcher? Really? 3) Why would the police/FBI mount an all out sting based on a phone tip that leads them to a vacant house with no hard evidence other than a concert receipt? No way. Only in a movie could this happen. M. Night lost his star on this one.
