the plot lacked so much substance for major events **spoiler**
for example: (the affair, the couple getting back together after the affair, zendaya & zac's relationship) and sugarcoated everything. the main character seems like someone that ended up in this mess due to his own insecurities and ego of trying to prove his spouse's parents wrong. there was no specific elaboration on why he had the affair with the singer (it only seemed that he was attracted to her appearance and her voice) after his lifelong love seemed to have been going well. he also had the most insignificant role with his children, since it seemed like there were only minor details of their relationship. it seemed like within five minutes, the couple made up, and he basically said that the reason for his misbehavior was that he was insecure of growing up in a poor family and wanted to prove that he had what it takes to rise to the top, and even though he did, he lost sight of what was really important. on the other hand, zendaya and zac's relationship did not show any true dialogue. zac fell in love with zendaya at first sight, but they never showed any true scenes of them interacting, other than when they first met and zendaya gave him a dirty look. they did not give any explanation or reason as to why she gave him such a rude and sassy greeting (possibly because she assumed he was a superficial elitist) and suddenly they fell in love with each other. after one nasty comment from zac's parents, they suddenly distanced again until the fire. it also lacked solid background as to why the main character switched from running a circus to touring with the singer. yes, he was obsessed with being elitist, BUT it doesn't make sense on how he was able to switch from one industry to the other in such quick notice, due to his controversial background. it also indicates that he did not talk to his family about leaving so quickly, and the only reasonable reason as to why he left so quickly was because of his attraction to the singer and the money. the only reason i would still give this movie a 4/10 is because of the cinematography, scenery, choreography, and some of the music. although the cinematography was a bit iffy at times, overall, it seemed above average. some songs were spot on, but at specific parts of the good songs, it did not sound good. the acting was good, but the script was poorly written and did not highlight important parts of the movie, and instead focused on minor details that didn't seem as important compared to other parts of the plot. it seemed like the plot was extremely rushed and "disneyfied"
