In my opinion, I disliked the novel Fahrenheit 451 and believed that it was unenjoyable and exceptionally incoherent. The book begins in a world where Guy Montag burns books for a living. While that alone confuses me, it starts to get stranger as the depictions of the parlor I find to be quite odd. It is a room where everything is on a screen while people watch shows to make them happy, but are still unhappy while many people commit suicide? I fail to grasp what Bradbury is throwing at me. If people dislike the present, why can't they go back to the past and do what once made people happy? However, this book is not completely bad for me because I loved how the older woman put her foot down. I loved how she said if her books go out, she goes out. I found that to be such an empowering moment for all of us. I also loved the high-speed chase towards the end of the novel and thought Bradbury displayed excellent vocabulary and figurative language to describe the events. Sadly as I thought the book was starting to get more entertaining, Bradbury ended it in a confusing fashion where I was left clueless on what was going on and wishing he could have told us more. Overall, I was happy to read one of the great classics but was disappointed that I found it to be unenjoyable.
