A fabulous crime thriller. Story works well in the beginning, introducing Jacquot and the gendarmerie. The instances of German occupation, as expected, seem odd but in the end work their charm. The arrival of the said "Angel" is a bit unorthodox when one considers crime thrillers but it fits well but diminishes at the climax which surely could have been worked better. The end is a sweet and sour combo.
