As an avid fan of the Percy Jackson books, I am more than disgusted with the disloyalty these films represent to the original source material. The writing is clumsy and cringe worthy at best and at worst, it’s dull and laughable at how terrible it is. Even discarding the original book series, this film doesn’t work on its own. It’s clumsy and confusing and nothing is set up nor referenced before hand. The actors are terrible choices for their respective roles and everything that makes them likable characters is stripped away to its bare minimum. I wish I could give this a negative 10 review but one star should sum up my thoughts on this film and the following one. I am ashamed and embarrassed on behalf of the film studio, screenwriter and director who deliberately ignored Rick Riordan’s desperate emails explaining why this film wouldn’t work. The review may say one star, but make no mistake, it means -2000/10
