Maybe it will grow on me as my 7 year old watches it endlessly, but during our first viewing just now her dad and I agreed that it was trying too hard. The first Trolls movie was really clever and funny. I was expecting the same for this one. Instead, the jokes seemed to fall flat, it was awkward, and there were political undertones. That said, it had a very nice, inclusive message and the end leaves you with a happy feeling.
