This is an excellently acted movie by everyone involved. Harry Carey does an excellent performance. Though it is a John Wayne movie, it is every bit a high lite watching Mr. Carey. The movie is somewhat different from the book, but you will not be disappointed with this movie. It teaches softness in a hostile world and shows a better world created by that tenderness. It also demonstrates that all people strive for being better if given an equal chance with dignity. I saw this for the first time, (2018), and I am amazed how a 77 year old movie can resonate today.
