I think this movie is a 9/10, as it liberates from its successors (previous live action movies and the original Aladdin itself). Here's why.
1. The musical arrangement is upgraded to a more Arabian/Indian theme.
2. It doesn't try to be a shot-by-shot remake of the original movie.
3. The script and the actors' improv skills really ups every scene.
4. The chemistry between Aladdin and Jasmine in this movie is strong. In fact, all the characters' chemistry to each other is visible.
4. The characters are given a deeper history, especially Jasmine. Some are also given a rewarding ending which is a huge surprise for the moviegoers.
5. The new character additions adds life to the movie, and eventually, the plot.
6. Jafar is an unwelcome change, but is an effective one.
Of course, some "professional" movie reviewers can't see that because all they see is the fact that it is a remake, therefore it should suck.
