Good Swim

Disappointing, they had it all there but the storytelling and main points they were trying to construe seemed paper thin. Main criticism is it was boring. They never shown the extent of Elvis's anger and drug issues and how this played on Priscilla. What was he like as a lover? How was his relationship with his daughter? Did he miss her, want her around? Did Priscilla actually 'cheat' on Elvis? Did she try and change his behaviour, help him? Get a relationship back with her parents? None of this the film addressed in depth and the film petered out for me. Frustrating. Positives, the leads were fantastic. Actress shown wonderful range and she shown true tenderness and believability with what she had. Elvis man I thought he pissed all over Austin Butler's cartoonish performance. He was rock solid, probably seemed better because of how bad Austin's was. Elordi played the part wonderfully. Enough Elvis movies for me for the next 10 years.

Predictable, cheap, rubbish dialogue 'lucky I'm a vampire''! Shock value just for shock value, did nothing for the story. Initial scene with Oliver narrating revealed the whole bloody twist to begin with. Ridiculous. Oliver got treated brilliantly by his crush and their family, their demise was so undeserved especially when you knew his own affluent background. The end scene of the dance !? Give me a break ! Especially when he was alone and all you thought he wanted was to be loved ? Grave scene also arghh corn city. Rosamund Pike was brilliant, set design fantastic, enjoyed the English grieving scene at the table. Very well done. Scattered movie full of ideas and good set pieces but never came together to pull you in or have you invested in the story.
