I read the books as a young teen and so far the TV series has not disappointed. It's a good build up, not rushed, just as the books were, drawing you in slowly and revealing just enough hints so far that'll come back later as important details. The casting is good as well, the dæmons just as I imagined when I read the books, which were a deep intriguing read, nothing was just there to fleetingly catch your interest, it was an all the way through journey you had to commit to, I hope the series continues in the same vein.

It's funny, mean, awkward and low-key serious. There's cliche action and non-cliche action, plenty of over the top violence to either roll your eyes or laugh at. The main characters are all both likeable and unlikeable but in a very amusing and entertaining way, which gives them a nice dimension, especially as they interact with one another. I'd suggest not going into this looking for an in depth story, or if your looking for a silly comedy. But if you'd like to be entertained in a non-serious, serious way and are prepared to take it at face value and be in the high action crazy moment, I'd rec it.
