It's a shame that the big cinematic moment, showing the 'going-over the top' of British troops, is so wildly inaccurate and so poorly conveys the true horrors of what actually happened. The film shows everyone charging gung-ho across no-man's land when in fact they were under strict orders to walk slowly, in lines, and equally spaced. Thus were so many mown down by machine guns as sitting ducks. This pathetic and tragic cause if so many deaths was completely misrepresented.
