I didn't have high expectations of this movie remake, as a fan of King's work and previous disappointment coming from adaptation from book to screen failures, I purchased it anyway and persevered. The change of story line didn't sit well, I liked the original story (spoiler) with Gage meeting his fate rather than Ellie, however it was still horrific to watch a child die. The acting wasn't brilliant (the mother) , although Ellie was quite good and it was nice to see John Lithgow. There were too many jump scares.

Even with the sound turned up I found it difficult to hear what they were saying, why did the mother just tut when her 18 year old son has a girl in their apartment, if I was his mother I would have walked into the bedroom and turfed the girl out, she obviously wasn’t worth any introductions “hi mum this is my girlfriend, is it ok for her to stay?”, if they had discovered where the plane went down with four hours left then why wasn’t it found earlier?
