It's hard not to be critical of bad decisions that are made by the lead detectives in this movie. They make choices that if you know anything about law enforcement are so novice it cant be seen as respectable choices. The mistakes they make in this movie are ones that a best....a trainee law enforcement officer would make. Directors and screenplay writers have the tough job of trying to find creative was of moving a story and conflict forward ...but it's just bad writing that in order to do that....they have characters in the story make dumbest choices that defy common sense.
