I originally gave The Regime five stars after the first two episodes. The sheer fatuousness of it all was well done, well written, and, well acted. By episode 4, the series' arc had already been reached. Love declared and consummated. Episodes 5 and 6 added nothing. If anything, it was like watching a flushed toilet that kept spiralling without completion. If I had to base my review solely on Kate Winslet's acting and presence, I'd give The Regime a million stars.

As I watched Episode 1's opening I was hooked. Ep 1 became creepier and creepier as the tale unfolded. I was awed by the fact that psychopathic narcissists all seem to have the same "manual". How Ben manipulated and gaslit his victims was almost a play-by-play of what my ex-spouse did to me. To the tee. Acting is superb.

Par excellence. J'en veux plus.

Season 1 was excellent. Character development, acting, interesting relationships. But Seasons 2 and 3 missed the marks. The later seasons were just procedural police shows.

The main character, Esty, is difficult to watch; she wants everything her way all the time. To add insult to injury, she shuns her mother when she reaches Berlin because her mother is a lesbian. The only character with a soul, albeit flawed, is Yanky. Hard to understand why she didn't tell Yanky she was pregnant when he entered the apartment demanding divorce. Disturbing how often the derogatory term "shiksa" is used. Demonstrates how extreme cultures are embedded with hate.
