The pilot is a tearjerker but sets up lots of personalities, characters, and family issues that could cover a wide gamut of topics. Will it be schmaltzy? Maybe. But could it also have potential to bring many viewpoints to tough family issues? Absolutely. I don’t know if the Covid-19 pandemic caused the delay between the pilot and episode 2, but I hope it gets a chance to play out for a full season. This doesn’t have to be the next iteration of “This Is Us” to be a valuable family show.
