Not as crazy as it might seem. We live in a post-factual world in which science has already lost to blind ideology. People are actually prepared to die (and they are dying by the tens of thousands) rather than admit they are on the wrong side. And we've already seen what happens when blind ideology, idiocy and nepotism mix at the highest levels of government. This movie is just the apocalyptic version of the collapse that's already well underway.
